Blogging A-Z Challenge: Keep (or get) Fit

I’ve always thought that the idea of going to keep fit was slightly odd. After all you have to get there first. And that is where I am once again. But, so far so good.

I started on Friday last week with a fitness video, though it took me to Monday to recover. Since then I’ve found something that suits me better and yesterday followed up the initial yoga with a stretch session. Today, I’ve been into the office and my exercise has been walking. Plus 5 flights of stairs this morning as the lifts were busy and many flights down again. Suddenly I’ve remembered how good doing a bit of exercise makes you feel.

Movement in general is what I need I think. I’ve spent too much of the winter sitting on my backside. Lockdown very much turned into don’t bother to move at all. If I’m going to keep fit, I definitely have to get there. I’m determined to make it happen this time.

I’m hoping to introduce more different types of exercise into my repertoire. More yoga, some pilates and much more. To think we’ve been living this video and zoom powered life for a year and I’m only just getting into it all. Better late than never though.

Journal for Monday and Tuesday

Monday I managed over 10,000 steps for the first time in ages. Walking to the pool, swimming, walking back and then later supermarket shopping. I was pretty tired by the end. I also kept the wine to a glass or 2 with dinner.

Tuesday I did my stretch exercise session for 25 minutes. I was still a bit stiff from swimming so that seemed the best thing. Then after work I went for a walk, down the hill to the shops and back up again. That’s the beauty of living at the top of a hill. Though it doesn’t feel like it at the time. Step count was only 5387, but I made the steps count. I’ve also been keeping some kind of food diary, not entirely sure I’ll keep that up. But we’ll see.

So in terms of keep fit, get fit and eat right, so far so very good!

  1. Yeah, they say it’s a lifestyle change, not something someone can just do for a short time and then it’s over.

It’s hard to believe the blogging challenge is almost over for 2021. Down to the after survey, reflections, and the road trip sign-up.
Plus, I’m taking part in the Bout of Books read-a-thon in May. So much excitement!
