Weigh in day and January progress

Of course I’ve had consistent weight losses before. Usually this tails off after 3 or 4 weeks. The fact that I put on no weight at Christmas means that this is my longest continuous journey for a long time.

This week’s news

This week I lost 1lb. I’d be disappointed if it wasn’t for the fact that my weight loss for January is 7lb. I have now lost 11.5lb since November.15th. What’s more, I am at my lowest weight since January 2018.

This week I allowed some old habits to re-emerge. Too much alcohol at the weekend and a few extra carbohydrates. But still no processed food or sugar. I also drank sparkling water while out to eat twice this week. Eating out is going to be easier than it used to be. I no longer have to worry about fat when out, just carbs. Plus, so long as I drink water or just a single glass of wine I think I’ll be pretty safe.

Great news

For the next few weeks I get slimming world for free, certainly a bonus. At the end of 2017 my weight was spiralling upward and in an attempt to apply the brakes I called target. It didn’t work and I was soon out of target range. But today I’m back in target. Of course this isn’t the weight I want to be but for a few weeks I’ll enjoy it. Then when the time is right I’ll fix my proper target.

Surgery planning

My BMI is now 31.2 down from 33 when I started and got weighed at the hospital. According to the letter from my specialist nurse I need to be at a BMI of between 30 and 31 to be considered. That is clearly now easily in sight. But I’m not sure how low I can safely go. I’ll give it a few more weeks and then contact her for advice.

So all in all, January has been a great month. Bring on February.
